VT Dog Rescue

VT Dog Rescue is a non-profit canine rescue focused on saving the Underdog. The sweet dogs who are passed over day after day simply because they are not perfect. Who is an underdog?- older dogs who are wise and love to snuggle- tri-pawed dogs who are happily enjoying life with 3 legs- shy dogs who need a little extra love to help them build confidence - dogs who may limp or have a physical limitation that humans see as a flaw, but they accept with dignity - dogs who are missing an eye and have adapted to navigate their world The Underdogs have, against all odds, retained their ability to be loyal and trusting companions who love us unconditionally. We believe the Underdogs, just like other shelter dogs, deserve to be rescued and placed in loving, responsible homes where they can shine.

Meet Greta

Meet our black beauty, Greta! Greta was saved from an Alabama shelter after becoming urgent and is now happily in Vermont waiting to find her forever home.  She is 2 yrs old and 50 lbs. Greta is energetic, loves to play with other dogs, and would do best with a fenced in yard and a solid routine. She is most active in the morning and again in the evening and requires a daily walk or a game of fetch to burn off some of her energy.  Leash walking is a work in progress. Greta has done well in the house, roaming free with no destructive behavior, as long as she has plenty of toys to entertain her. She is partial to her stuffies and loves to run around shaking and playing with them. Greta sleeps soundly through the night and has had no accidents in the house. She can get scared of loud noises. Greta is learning that hands are not for mouthing, and for that reason, we feel she would do best in a home with older children. Some of Greta's favorite activities are riding in the car, snuggling with her foster mom and canine foster sibling, and living her best life as a champion ball chaser.  This pup is super smart, food motivated, and wants to please. Greta's determination has served her well as a survivor as she continues to work on her basic skills and manners.   We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in her genetic background. We highly recommend training classes for all of our dogs to get everyone off to a great start. Training recommendations are available. Our adoption fee is $400 which includes age-appropriate vaccines (such as Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo, and Rabies), neutering, worming, microchipping, and health exam. Discount vouchers for training, grooming, and similar dog-related products and services are provided
