Meet Kay
Kay is a courtesy post for Lending Paws a Hand Animal Rescue Age:3 years Weight: 45 lbs Location: Whispering Pines, NC Nicknames: Kay Kay Good with other dogs?: Dog selective. Kay can be dog selective. She used to live with another non-dominant male dog and did well. She needs slow introductions with other dogs and may not be the best fit for a household with another female dog. Her ideal home would be one where she can be the “queen bee” Good with cats? no Good with children? OK for kids over: 12 years old Activity Preference: Needs in-house activities, Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time. IQ: Average Kay's favorite things: Kay loves belly rubs, snoring in your lap, and playing with tennis balls. She is a goofball and will throw a ball up in the air and try and catch it. She can be a vacuum cleaner and would do best in home that doesn’t leave things on the floor for her to vacuum up (ie: socks turn into swallowed socks). Kay is good at: staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, making me feel safe, walking on a leash, cuddling, playing, catching balls/frisbee, following commands Ideal home: no children, quiet environment, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, other: A great male bachelor. Kay LOVES males! Training Needs: socialization with people, socialization with dogs Health issues: Kay does have allergies. She is currently on apoquel, but Jodi suggested we switch to cytopoint. Meet Kay Please note that Kay (K) is available through Lending Paws a Hand Animal Rescue. We are doing this post as a courtesy to help this rescue find her a great bulldog loving home! K is quite the character! She loves to do play bows and play with you and also roll over for belly rubs. Her foster fondly calls her a garbage disposal and if there's something on the ground, K most likely will try and eat it. K loves people more than anything, especially men! If you're a male reading this right now, K would gladly be your one and only love! She is the type of gal that will nap right by your feet and greet you everyday after work with her cute little nub wiggly butt! K needs a home that has the financial means to continue her ongoing care. Like most bulldogs, she has allergies, so needs to stay on meds to help keep her comfortable the rest of her life and prevent itching. Although she is young, she has already had one ruptured crutiate ligament, which the rescue repaired K will need to stay on a strict diet to ensure she does not get overweight, which would put more strain on her back legs. Spoiling her endless with lots of treats will NOT be the right fit for her, but she will gladly play fetch or get scritchy scratchies instead! K loves to lounge around and play with her kong toy or bone. She would do great with in a home where someone is around often or would also be fine hanging out by herself if you need to leave for work. She does great in her crate! Kay is also house trained and knows basic commands such as sit or leave it. K is the best little goofball girl! Her genetic testing shows she’s 50% Standard Bulldog, 25% American Bulldog and 25% French Bulldog. If you ever wanted a Bulldog mix, she’s it! PLEASE READ: Adopters will not be considered without completing an application. Please visit www.AmericanBulldogRescue.org to apply! Remember - Adoption is always the best option! If you can't help by adopting a homeless pet, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to American Bulldog Rescue, 4 Terry Drive, Suite 1D Newtown, PA 18940 or paypal [email protected]. We cannot place dogs in homes with children under 10 unless that dog has lived with kids or is in a foster home with kids. Thank you.
Adoption Process
All interested people must submit an application, which is on our website. If the application appears to meet our qualifications we follow through with vet and personal references and background check. If those pass, we perform a home visit. If successful and up to our standards, the applicant schedules to meet the dog. If foster family and the adoptive family are happy during that meeting, the applicant signs a contract and can take the dog home. We require a donation of $400. They receive the dog's vet records and a copy of their contract.
