To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see  HERE Age: 6 Months (as of 3/24/23) Weight: 37.2 Lbs (as of 3/3/23) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.   Say hello to Tip! This handsome boy is affectionate, smart, and a little shy. We are thinking Tip is a Corgi and Shepherd mix about six months old. Tip can be nervous with new people, dogs, places and experiences. A potential adopter will need to keep this in mind and go slow, work on socialization, give him plenty of exercise, and provide training and structure as he transitions to life in a forever home. He is playful, sweet, and cuddly in the home when he is comfortable. He would do best in a low-key household without much foot traffic, no young children, and lots of patience and treats! He needs an adopter who is committed to keeping his world small until he starts to settle in. The adopter should plan to limit visitors to his home, leave the dog at home (crated – not loose!) rather than taking him to parties, soccer games, dog parks, etc, and focus on building a bond through structure and moderate obedience training. He is a smart boy that is house trained, if taken out regularly, and crate trained but does need more practice. He also needs some work on his leash skills as he tends to zig-zag. We think he would benefit from another friendly well-balanced dog in his next household which could likely jump-start his confidence building and socialization. A fenced yard would be ideal so he could run and play safely, but if that's not available he'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. Tip is a happy boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
