Meet Creme - PENDING!
UPDATE: WHEN CREME ARRIVES IN NEW YORK LATER THIS MONTH, SHE WILL BE GOING INTO A FOSTER-WITH-INTENT-TO-ADOPT SITUATION. WE, THEREFORE, WILL NOT BE PROCESSING ANYONE FOR CREME AT THIS TIME, AS WE WILL AWAIT SEEING IF THIS FOSTER-TO-ADOPT SITUATION CULMINATES IN CREME'S ADOPTION._______________________________________________________________________________Meet Creme & Buttercup (both of whom are currently in North Carolina and will be transported to NY later this month after their respective spays)! These sisters are about 7-8 months old, Labrador/Beagle? mixes. We expect, but cannot guarentee they will be medium size adult dogs.Creme and Buttercup were pulled from a 'limited space' (high kill) facility in NC.They are adjusting well in their foster homes - both are fostered with other dogs, Buttercup is fostered with a feline, and Creme had a successful intro to kids.Creme loves to be in the oversized rocker on the deck with her just hanging out. Buttercup has figured out how to move the xpen to get even closer to her foster sibling and probably the more outgoing of the two girlies with a bit more energy.Bboth are current on vaccines, dewormed, on flea/tick/hwp, and will be microchipped. _________________________________________________________________**If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY. Also, a follow-up email to [email protected] is strongly recommended. To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net. (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.) When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application. (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email. (So, please check your SPAM.) Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $450, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), apply. YOU CANNOT MEET OUR RESCUE ANIMALS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT. WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants. Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie/Albany County. Thank you for your interest.(Sorry, we will not respond to generic "check the box," "Is s/he available," "Can you give me more information" inquiries.) NYS Rescue Registry No. RR 087
Adoption Process
The adoption process will begin with an extensive adoption application, accessible on our website. In addition to a series of questions (e.g., to ascertain the adopter's likes/dislikes, lifestyle, and general suitability), the application will require, among other things, a veterinary reference and two personal (non-family member) references. In lieu of a veterinary references, we will require 3 personal references. We will also require submission of digital photos of home and yard, as well as a home visit. Approved adopters will be required to take their pup or dog to the vet within 7 days of adoption. Each animal adopted from Safe At Last will go home with a medical booklet, complete with all details of vetting done prior to adoption, with explicit instructions as to the follow up required. All animals will be UTD with all age appropriate shots prior to adoption, and barring any health reasons that would preclude it, they will be placed on topical protection for fleas/ticks, and based on age, also started on heartworm preventative (or provided with the first dose). Any animals older than 4 months will be spayed/neutered before adoptions. For animals under 4 months old, the adoption contract will require spay/neuter by the time the animal is 6 months of age. We will require proof of same and will assign one of our members to have the task of following up on proof of spay and neuter. Under the contract, the adoptive family will not "own" the animal until we have received proof of spay and neuter. Failure to have the surgery performed will allow us, under the contract, to reclaim the pet.
