VT Dog Rescue

VT Dog Rescue is a non-profit canine rescue focused on saving the Underdog. The sweet dogs who are passed over day after day simply because they are not perfect. Who is an underdog?- older dogs who are wise and love to snuggle- tri-pawed dogs who are happily enjoying life with 3 legs- shy dogs who need a little extra love to help them build confidence - dogs who may limp or have a physical limitation that humans see as a flaw, but they accept with dignity - dogs who are missing an eye and have adapted to navigate their world The Underdogs have, against all odds, retained their ability to be loyal and trusting companions who love us unconditionally. We believe the Underdogs, just like other shelter dogs, deserve to be rescued and placed in loving, responsible homes where they can shine.

Meet Roxy

Meet Roxy, a delightful and affectionate 5 month old spayed pup with the perfect blend of playful energy and calm cuddles. This medium-energy dog enjoys her daily walks and playful roll-around sessions, but she’s equally content lounging with a good belly rub. Roxy’s social nature shines through as she interacts with people of all ages—she eagerly greets both children and adults during walks around town, the park, and even the local skate park. Her sweet, approachable demeanor makes her an instant favorite wherever she goes. Roxy rides well in the car and is well-adjusted to crate life. She sleeps soundly in her crate from 9 PM to 7 AM and does well when left alone for short periods. Although she’s been comfortable in her crate, we haven’t yet left her unsupervised in the house, so we're still working on that. She’s also friendly and gentle with cats. Ideal for a home with children or teens, Roxy is eager to learn and has already mastered a few basic commands such as "sit" and "shake." She’s progressing quickly on bell training for potty breaks and is fully potty-trained. Roxy loves to engage in training with both adults and kids and responds well to positive reinforcement. While Roxy is generally calm, she does exhibit typical puppy behavior like chewing—especially on soft toys, and she absolutely loves a Kong filled with peanut butter and kibble. She does have a tendency to chew on cardboard or paper if left unsupervised, but she’s never chewed any household items. Roxy is quiet and reserved, only barking when she needs to go outside, and she doesn’t nip or bite. However, she can be a little jumpy when excited, especially during playtime. Energetic and confident, Roxy loves her daily walks, bounding down the road with enthusiasm. She is a one-of-a-kind pup, radiating beauty and energy. It’s no wonder everyone who meets her falls in love instantly. Roxy is ready to find her forever family—could that be with you? We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in her genetic background. We highly recommend training classes for all of our dogs to get everyone off to a great start. Training recommendations are available. Our adoption fee is $400 which includes age-appropriate vaccines (such as Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo, and Rabies), neutering, worming, microchipping, and health exam. Discount vouchers for training, grooming, and similar dog-related products and services are provided.
