Meet Badger

Meet Badger! Location: Raleigh, NC Local adopters preferred, but not limited to NC state. He is an adorable, handsome 9-10week old ACD puppy who has ears to die for.   He is seeking a new home that is ready and prepared to raise an Australian Cattle Dog puppy and help him grow up to become the best, well behaved boy he can be. Don't let his absolutely adorable looks fool you - He's got attitude and grit and a mouth to help prove it!  While he is a sweet puppy, he has a lot of potential to be just what he is, a true working dog.  Badger can be bold and full of spunk - An experienced and active ACD home will be highly preferred over all others, as he is no couch potato and could easily get bored.   In foster care, he lives and socializes with 3 other male ACDs and cats. My youngest ACD who is 3 y/o and intact, is his favorite to play with - But you can already see Badger likes to turn the notch and rough house. He is working on his house training, kennel training and foundational skills but as a young puppy, the success of this boy will lie with you in his new home with continued boundaries and training. He kennels pretty well overnight, getting closer to 6 hours sleep without a break needed, but during the day he is itching for my lunch break to come and let him out. When he is let out, he goes instantly. When he is over-stimulated and needs a break, he can understand that message and settles down when taken to his kennel if he is blocked off from seeing others. He has traveled to dog events with me, and has kennelled in the car for long periods of time without making a peep (with socializing with people breaks) and takes everything new in stride. He has met children and done really well, but as he grows up and hones into his biting habits, it will be essential to oversee his interactions around young children and based on his current tendencies, older children may be best in a home with him.    I believe Badger would excel in a sport-minded home or a very active home. He enjoys being outdoors and I only expect that love to grow as he gets older and is able to do more activity outside when his joints fully develop.  He loves to play tuggie and already is chasing rollers (frisbees) with a clear attempt to grab. He picks them up and already heads back my way. He is toy and food motivated. If you need a true herder, sign him up. He's already showed those instincts   He is microchipped and up to date on monthly preventatives. He has age-appropriate vaccinations, and is being adopted out on spay/neuter contracts to allow his puppy body and mind more time to develop.    Please contact [email protected].
