Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Swayze

Hey guys, do you need more snuggles? Well I am Swayze and I'm here to help! I'm a professional snugglebug and have appointments available from now til infinity! I'm a very sweet, cute little baby boy of around 4 months that weighs 26 pounds. I am very confident, intelligent, and active and I need an active family and a fenced in yard that is at least four feet tall. I'm a brave boy too and will be protective when I get big. This means I need a family who will continue to train me and provide boundaries so that I grow up to be the best boy I can be. I get along great with my fur foster siblings. I like to fling my tiny self at them, WWF- style. I would be fine being an only dog or in a family with another confident and playful dog. I have foster cat siblings and I will chase them sometimes and ignore them at other times, so I would be fine with a dog-savvy cat. I'm still pretty mouthy, so would do best with older kids right now. I am getting pretty good at house training, just need to go out frequently. I know how to sit, to go in my crate for dinner, and walk pretty well on leash. I'm going to be a superstar best friend for someone! If you think it might be you, contact your adoption coordinator!  If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator please complete an application at  www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org.   I am being fostered near Raleigh, NC.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.
