CrisisDogsNC

CrisisDogsNC is a foster-based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit founded in 2017 by journalist and author Judith Reitman Texier whose investigative articles garnered international awards and prompted changes in animal welfare laws. She created the Organization in response to North Carolina’s euthanasia rate which is among the highest in the country and to many of its shelters’ methods of euthanasia that are so inhumane they are outlawed in most other states. We rescue dogs from kill shelters, substandard backyard breeders, hoarders, and from chains. We provide full medical care, foster homes, and transport by land and air through our partnership with PilotsNPaws to fully screened and qualified adopters all along the East Coast. What distinguishes us from other rescues is our focus on the relationship between the rescued dog and the new family. By understanding your lifestyle and expectations, as well as the personalities of our rescue dogs, we can make a compatible match for a lifelong bond. We are in it for the life of the dog. At any point after adoption, if the adopter's situation changes for whatever reason, we will always accept the dog back into the rescue.

Meet Kobe

This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media.   Kobe is a seven-year-old, eleven-pound, Shih Tzu mix. Kobe is good with all dogs, all cats, and mature kids ten and over. Good with w dogs, cats, Little Kobe reportedly has a seizure disorder (according to owner who dumped him) but no seizures were seen at the shelter nor has his he had a seizure at his foster so far. He is definitely a lap dog and would be a good fit for a first-time dog owner since he is so easy! Kobe is low key and submissive, housetrained and good natured. He plays with his foster’s cats, kittens and dogs. His foster writes, “A low energy Velcro boy, Kobe sleeps a lot, and as soon as you sit down, he climbs in your lap and lays down. A real lapdog.” Kobe likes grilled chicken, laying down together on the couch, watching tv, kittens and head scratches. His foster says, “He’s so easy to care for and doesn’t bark or cry unless he has to go outside to do his business. He's so quiet, we had to put a bell collar on him. Apply at crisisdogsnc.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls, no emails. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed assessments are based on visual appearances.
