Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Beelzebub

Who’s this good looking guy sitting pretty for the camera? Oh– that’s me: Beelzebub! My foster mom named me Beelzebub because of my devilishly good looks and envious coat of black fur. But don’t let my looks fool you; I’m much more than a pretty face…I’m about 4 months old, 30 pounds, an avid explorer, a curious adventurer, and a lover of morning time book readings and naps! I’ve proven to be very smart and am working on new commands daily. I'm already housebroken and crate trained. I’ve mastered “sit” and “come” and am currently working on “down” and “wait”. I’m a little more stubborn than my brother, but once I’ve got it down– I’m consistent! My foster mom thinks I would do best in a quieter home. I’m a little shy and would do best with an experienced partner to help boost my confidence! I’m not a big cuddler, but I like to be in your company. I do great in the car, but am still working on walking on a leash. I’m getting better about jumping and learning to sit and wait for the things I want.I am very friendly, but not pushy about receiving affection. I like to be independent and explore things on my own. My foster mom has a fun backyard with lots of trees and cool hiding spots. I would love a yard of my own and a six foot fence because of my curious nature!I’m currently being fostered with 4 cats and 2 other German Shepherds. I don’t fuss with them much. I would do well in a home with or without other animals. I do love to wrestle with my foster sister, who is 80 pounds and loves to play ROUGH! It’s my favorite kind of play!If you’re looking for an active adventure pal or someone to sit on the couch and read a book to, I’m your guy! I’m ready to be your greatest companion, yet! If you would like me to join your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org .  I am being fostered near Winston/Salem

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.
