Best Friend Pet Adoption

Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA) is a no-kill animal rescue organization based in central North Carolina. BFPA has no building, office, or shelter. We are an all-foster network committed to helping dogs and cats in need of homes. Individual donations are our most important source of income as we receive no public funding. Our purpose is to provide medical assistance, foster homes, and adoption services to previously lost, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals in Wake County, NC and the surrounding counties. Our mission is to educate this disposable society in which we live that every life should be valued and cherished and is directly linked to human responsibility and commitment.Almost all the animals we rescue require immediate medical attention. BFPA never turns away or euthanizes an animal because of the expense involved in returning them to good health. All our rescued animals are evaluated for temperament, examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, microchipped (if possible) and sterilized, if age appropriate. Cats and dogs receive monthly flea/tick preventative and dogs also receive monthly heartworm preventative. The most important ingredients we provide to these animals are loving care and a safe haven -- something most of them have never experienced. These cats and dogs live in volunteer foster homes until we find them a loving permanent home, however long it takes. We match these precious beings to a single, couple or family who understand cats and dogs should be full participating members of the family. Our hope is that these animals never have to experience being unloved again.Since our beginning, BFPA has rescued and placed over 2,500 cats and dogs into their forever homes.BFPA was created in 1998 by two Raleigh-area women who had volunteered with other established rescues in the Triangle. Their dedication to help homeless dogs and cats has led to an organization that has grown to over 225 volunteers strong.BFPA received 501(c)(3) status in 1999.

Adoption arrangements will be a private arrangement between you and the owner.  As with any dog adoption, BFPA encourages potential adopters to gain as much information as possible before adopting. This includes temperament testing and verification of vet records to ensure the dog is in good health, UTD on vaccinations and has been sterilized. For more information about this handsome dog, please contact If you would like more information about this dog, please contact Sarah 610-972-1886 or  [email protected] .  You do not need to submit an application to Best Friend Pet Adoption.   Finch is a 6 y.o. Chihuahua/shih tzu mix. He is 15 lbs. He is very friendly, playful and social. He is good on leash or in the backyard for bathroom breaks. He has been getting along with the 35 lb male dog in his foster placement for walks and backyard playtime. He is crate trained. Due to deteriorating care with his owner who past away, he was having accidents in the house. During his time in his foster placement he has been in a dorm room sized contained area when alone and has not been having accidents. He loves meeting new people and looking forward to lots of snuggles and belly rubs.  He has not been exposed to cats. Finch has been in a home with elementary and teen aged children and has done well. Finch is not overly vocal. He would be fine in an apartment or house with yard. Finch has been an only dog in the home for most his life and has been happy with that arrangement. He has also been done well in a house with another dog in his foster placement but has not been left alone with that dog. During his foster placement Finch has been let out for bathroom breaks/walks 5-6 times a day. Finch has a moderate energy level. He enjoys walks and social play time but due to his size doesn’t need a high amount of exercise. If you would like more information about this dog, please contact Sarah 610-972-1886 or  [email protected] .  You do not need to submit an application to Best Friend Pet Adoption.
