Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Dakota - Adoption Pending

Looking for a bundle of joy to brighten your days? Say hello to Dakota! This sweet, playful girl is ready to find her forever home. At just 5 months old and 32 pounds, Dakota is full of love and energy, making her the perfect companion! Dakota is dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and child-friendly, which means she’s ready to fit right in with your household, no matter who’s there! With her moderate energy level, she shares her toys and space beautifully, making playtime a breeze. Dakota adores her toys and loves frolicking in the backyard with her one-year-old German Shepherd mix foster sibling. Dakota loves being with people so much that she does not require a fenced in yard. But beware - those squeaker toys don’t stand a chance when Dakota is near! Whether she’s chasing a ball or rolling around in the grass, Dakota's joy is contagious! This lovely lady is already crate trained and seems to be potty trained too—what a great start! She’s currently working on her leash manners, but with a little patience and practice, she’ll be strutting her stuff in no time. Dakota would thrive in a home with a furry playmate or she’d be just as happy being your only pup, soaking up all the love and attention. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, and loving companion, Dakota might just be the perfect match for you! If you're ready to add Dakota to your family, reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . Dakota is being fostered in Charlotte, NC.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.
