Meet Oakley - Adoption Pending
I’m Oakley, a 4 month old white shepherd and I weigh about 16 pounds. I was found as a tiny puppy with my brother, West, in someone’s yard. They called the shelter to come get us, and then Freedom found a foster family for us! I am full of puppy energy, though I am a little calmer than my brother. I love playing with all the dogs in my foster family! Some are big dogs, some are small dogs… I like them all! I also like the cats in the family, but I DO NOT get along with the chickens. I’ve met some small kids and I like them too, even though I am a puppy and can be a little mouthy. I’m easily distracted with a toy, though. I am very social with people and dogs, and LOVE anything new… new toys, new places, new experiences, I love it all! I am crate trained and enjoy sleeping in my crate at night and usually don’t mind too much going in my crate if my foster family has to go out. I am working on being potty trained, but I still have a ways to go. I am a little puppy, so it’s hard to tell what I will be like when I grow up. My foster family thinks I would do best in a family that sometimes likes to be active and sometimes likes to relax. I would love a yard that I could run around in, and some pets in the family for me to play with would be fun as well! Since I’m a little guy with a lot of growing to do I need a 6 foot fence. I can’t wait to meet you and lick your face! If you are interested in learning more about me or would like to meet me, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you don’t have an adoption coordinator, please complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . I will be the greatest addition to your family! I am being fostered outside of Jacksonville, NC.
Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.
