Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Pebbles - Adoption Pending

Hi! My name is Pebbles! Or as my foster parents like to call me: Peebles, Pebby, Pebs, P-Munch and Water Demon.   I am a 4 month old, 30 pound German Shepherd. There is not much to my origin story other than it was just me and my two sisters that got surrendered to the shelter by our mother's owner when we were all super little. My one sister got adopted and my other sister and I got placed in my current foster parents' care. It was a great adventure traveling across the state at such a young age, and although it was a bit scary, I had my sister with me and cuddled with her the whole way. However, as soon as I got to my foster parents' home, I knew I was already going to be in a better place. I had ALL the room to run around and wrestle with my sister. We had our own beds, and LOTS of toys to play with. No matter how many times my foster mom would clean up and put our toys away, we were right behind her to pull them all out again. Eventually, my sister got adopted and I've heard she has been enjoying her new home at the beach. I do miss her, but now I have all the energy to fully play with my two older fur foster sisters!  I love running around and having them zoomies, playing with all the toys (soft squeaky ones are my ultimate fave!), chewing on ice and of course cuddling with my foster sisters. I even got to experience my first time in the snow and LOVED IT!! With it getting warmer out, I like hanging out outdoors soaking up the sun (I also just recently found out what digging is... shh don't tell my foster parents that I am helping them remodel their backyard. Kinda surprise!). My foster parents don't think I need a fenced in yard though even with all my energy.  I hope I can find a new family soon! A family who can love on me, take me on walks, cuddle, play tug of war, teach me new tricks and, of course, give me all the best treats and belly rubs!! A family with another dog would be cool as I love making new friends! I have been around cats and kids as well and I was told I did well with them. I also have just discovered what a joy water is by holding water in my mouth while drinking and spraying it everywhere. But bath water is evil. I don't like baths very much, but I don't think my foster sisters do either.  I still have all my baby teeth and I am trying to figure out this whole "going to the bathroom outside" business, but it's going to take some time and patience. I will say, I am very good at going on pee pads inside and will rarely miss! I am also crate trained.   If you're interested in making me a part of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at  www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org  . I am being fostered outside of Raleigh, NC.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.
