Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas, Inc.

SRC begain in June, 2003 when after being bedridden for more than 4 years with Lupus (SLE) I went into remission. Being able to function again yet not work outside the home, I wanted to give back as I had always been in public service so I started SRC to repay my precious Mini Schnauzer (Chewie) for being such a faithful companion during my time of being bedridden. He had even laid on my head during blinding migraines! Since that time SRC has flourished and we have been blessed to have placed more than 2500 Schnauzers and Honorary Schnauzers in loving adoptive homes! Each one stays in a loving foster home and comes from trauma of horrible conditions! They are so glad to be rescued from the horror of puppy mills and kill facilities and with time and understanding become fantastic pets! SRC also publicly promotes spay/neuter for all animals and works to educate the public on the desperate need for this policy. We work to do micro-chip clinics to help the elderly be able to keep their dogs healthy despite their lack of income. We also work to place adult dogs with senior adoptive parents. I believe this is my calling and plan to spend the remainder of my lifetime in service to this worthy mission.

Meet TEDDY (SRC#3101) IN NORTH CAROLINA

OWNER PLACEMENT  ASSISTED BY SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS   Teddy (SRC#3101) was born on November 8, 2022. Teddy is the alpha of his litter. Teddy is  being placed for adoption because their human Mommy passed away recently and their human Dad can no longer provide him with the attention he wants all of his minis  to have. While their human Mom was sick, it slipped their minds to have their Minis (two males and a female) altered so in due time they ended up with an additional 5 puppies.  Teddy could have been their father.  Their human Dad loves each of them with all his heart and is determined that they have the best possible future together. SRC is committed to helping him assure that happens.  Each one of the Minis are placed for adoption and several have already been placed. This adorable pup is very loving and have been raised in remarkable fashion.  He has received bottled water to drink, and in addition to his kibble and canned dogfood, Teddy and all the other Minis have a dinner meal which consists of a lean meat cooked with veggies (no corn).  Teddy is  leash trained with halter; yet it has been some time since he has been able to be walked on a leash since their human Mom became ill, so therefore a fenced yard is a must. This Mini male is exceptionally loving yet he has never been exposed to children so it is best if he is placed in a home that does not have younger children in it. Teddy is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. If Teddy is placed with another dog, it should be a female since he has an alpha personality.    THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN CLAYTON, N.C. THE DONATION BEING REQUESTED IN HONOR OF THE ADOPTION IS: $400. Please submit a completed adoption application and with that application, submit vet records for any pets you have had within the last 5 years along with photos of your residence including the yard (including the fencing).  The owner of this Schnauzer will review all approved applications and documentation that SRC sends to them.  Once they have discussed this documentation with the Director of SRC, they will contact you to ask questions and to answer any questions you may have.  At that point if a meet and greet has been scheduled, an adoption contract will be sent to you which you must sign and return to SRC.  If the meet and greet goes well, your donation of $500.00       (tax deductible)  may be made online so that the release of these Schnauzers may happen.  SRC will notify the owner of  Teddy and Bear when the donation is completed so that they may release them to their new adoptive home.  SRC will register their micro-chips in the new adoptive parents’ name(s) at no additional charge.

Adoption Process
Our adoption process includes an application which is reviewed, then a vet and or personal reference. If this is satisfactory, then an informal home visit is conducted -- when this is approved an adoption contract is reviewed and signed. A tax deductible donation is requested which seldom covers the medical charges of the canine which has been readied for its new home. Each rescued dog is also evaluated for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to adoption and its medical needs are met, sometimes to include restoring vision when they have juvenile cataracts, removing bladders stones, doing dentals, micro-chipping, etc.
