The Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been helping animals in our community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. MOO-ve yourself on over here and take a look at me! I'm a big, beautiful boy with striking markings and a heart of gold (Kerrygold, some might say). I'm a bit anxious and insecure here in the shelter. I might ask for help by trying to crawl in your lap or sit on your chest. Good thing I'm still a tiny puppy, ha! I have a good time with a ball or soft toy, and I'm a big fan of treats. I'll need some basic training and 4 on the floor, calming exercises, and a cozy retreat. Maybe a pasture to graze- er, play- in? I wouldn't steer you wrong--take me home today! Kids: 10+, mindful of size; unaware of his own size, can be insecure or jumpy, may crawl onto your chest to be held Dogs: A little stiff and forward, loosened up to friendly sniffing. Moves away from high energy. Slow intros with gentle dogs Heartworm positive – APS is currently offering heartworm treatment at no additional cost through our foster-to-adopt period.
