Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip Summit is a gorgeous, young St. Bernard looking for a loving family and plenty of snuggles. * Summit is deaf and we are working with her to learn some hand signal commands. These websites are useful: https://deafdogsrock.com/beginning-sign-training or http://www.deafdogs.org/training/signs.php Also: http://www.deafdogs.org/training/ ~A website for people with deaf dogs and those considering adopting them. It has general training tips. Foster Home Feedback 7/31/22 Foster Feedback: Summit is the biggest sweetheart! She loves nothing more than to be pet and hugged by anyone willing to do so. Summit may be large, but she is still just a pup and does need some guidance when it comes to appropriate behavior. Initially one of these not-so-great behaviors was cat chasing (I can't blame her, it does look fun). She has no intention of hurting the cats and mostly runs at them as a toddler would to a group of pigeons. Summit is deaf/hard of hearing so while training isn't any more difficult, it is a little different. Summit came to us knowing "sit", "lay down", and "come". Training a deaf dog may sound intimidating, but it is very similar to training a hearing dog! Currently, Summit is working on her anxiety when being left alone. She is not a fan of the kennel when the door is latched. We will be testing her out soon to see how she is when just contained in a dog-safe room since she has done so well in our bedroom during the night. Summit is great with other dogs and loves to play with our resident Beagle. She is incredibly gentle and has needed no reminders to be careful. We have noticed no resource guarding with toys or food, but feed Summit separately because she will try to sneak a "taste" of another dog's dinner. Overall Summit is a sweet, goofy pup who would do great in a family that is willing to continue her training and who is prepared to accommodate her size.
