_________ B I O ______________ Name: Leon Size: Small range: Up to 25 lbs Adoption Donation: $250 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, Older, considerate children only, Not apartment-friendly ** Leon qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors Program. This program places senior dogs (age 8 or older) with senior citizens (age 65 or older) at a reduced adoption fee of $65.00. If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name. ** Leon has been diagnosed with mitral valve disease. This is a common disease in older small breed dogs. It is caused by thickening and degeneration of the mitral valve, causing it to become leaky, and allows backflow of blood from the left ventricle to the left atrium with every beat of the heart. This causes a heart murmur. At this point it is early and no medication is required. It can be progressive and medications may be required in the future. Leon may be a senior, but his love for you will never grow old. Foster Home Feedback **Older, considerate children only **Not apartment-friendly 12/15/24 Foster Feedback: My favorite thing about Leon is that his tongue is always sticking out! He has a big personality for someone who is 14lbs. He likes to pretend he’s a bear, but in reality, he’s a teddy bear. He loves to be with his people and have a comfy couch to relax on. Leon is dog-friendly and cat-friendly but will need a meet or two before going to his new family. When he first meets a dog, he likes to put on a don’t mess with me act but once he knows they are no threat, he’s great with other dogs. In result, a submissive dog would be a great match for Leon. No young kids or people who do not respect his boundaries, as he will make known that he is not happy by snapping at them. Leon only snaps at people as a warning to stop what they are doing. Something to note, he doesn’t have any more teeth and has the cutest toothless grin! Don’t let his age fool you, Leon still loves to have a regular play session every night. He would love to have a play buddy, as he tries hard for my cat to play with him. He’s fantastic on his walks and doesn’t pull. Leon is potty trained, but for some quirky reason, he has a special fondness for peeing on cardboard boxes. Leon has been kenneled during the day before but normally he freely roams the house while I’m gone. While he was in the kennel, he barked for about an hour before he calmed down. When he’s left out while I’m at work, he will move around the couch throughout the day, however he does bark occasionally throughout the time he’s alone. Due to the barking, I would suggest no apartments. Come and meet Leon and fall in with him like I did!
