And strong, sassy and iconic character is a perfect description for this special girl. She was quite scared coming into rescue but now that she’s in a safe and happy place she is just flourishing. Lydia Deetz needs time to warm up to new people but once she trusts you she will want to be BEST FRIENDS. She will literally be glued to your side. If you lay down, she will be ready to lay on top of you. If you have to go to the bathroom she will be there in case you need someone to pet. If you’re cooking dinner she will be there to keep you company. If you’re eating she will be there in case you feel like offering a snack or need a clean up crew. If you’re out in the yard she will be running laps around you because running around is her absolute FAVORITE. Playing with doggy friends might be her actual all time favorite activity though. She is the definition of a stage 5 clinger. She has been getting along beautifully with our two pitties (male and female) and absolutely loves playing with them. She would love a doggy sibling to play with and to teach her that life isn’t scary. It’s amazing how much our dogs have helped her and how much more confident she is around them. She is a little too interested in our skittish cat and tries to chase her sometimes but when interacting face to face she is very sweet with our cat. She would probably do ok going to a home with dog-savvy cats who won’t act like scared critters she could chase. In watching her interact with our dogs and cat I’m inclined to think she has some herding breed in her. She tries to catch them when they’re jumping onto furniture or running around and does mouth at the humans in the house. This will need some work but she so desperately wants to please so training will be fun with her. I honestly think she’d be a super fun agility dog candidate! Because of her timid demeanor and natural instinct to want to herd I don’t think a home with small kids is the right fit for her. Lydia Deetz is great in her kennel, has not had any accidents in our home, isn’t super barky but will make her voice known at times, walks fairly well on leash when wearing a front clip harness, is the perfect blend of energetic and chill, and is just so dang cute and goofy. Lydia Deetz is quickly winning hearts and will make one lucky family sooooo happy. We’ll be sad to see her go but we are SO excited for her to find her forever family who will spoil her, love her, and be her advocate and teach her that the world isn’t so scary.
