Calla. She’s named after a flower due to her delicate nature and beauty. She’s 1-2 years old and 35lbs. Calla is absolutely fabulous with dogs and cats and has never met another animal she didn’t like. She is the mother of 8 puppies that she raised with grace and now that she’s done her job, she’s so ready for a family of her own. She is super affectionate and cuddly once she feels safe. She’s apprehensive at first but then she’s on you like glue, Velcro, your new best friend. Calla is an easy-going dog who’s pretty low maintenance. She loves treats, snuggles and naps most of all. Apply today to snap up this very good little girlie!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
