Meet Tyus! Tyus is a 2 year old, 64 pound, Boxer mix who is full of pure love and loyalty. He is a little shy at first but quickly warms up to everyone he has met. He is house-trained, crate trained and good with other dogs of all sizes. He seems to do well with cats and just ignores them. He is learning to leash walk, navigate new place with more confidence and figuring out how to play with toys in his foster home. He is highly treat motivated and wants to please his people. His tail never stops wagging until you go to pet him. Then he closes his eyes and holds very still soaking in all of the attention. If you’re looking for a dog that loves to cuddle, wants to follow you around and is easy to train, Tyus is your guy.
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
