Meet Acorn! Acorn is a two-year-old, 55-pound lab-shepherd mix with a heart full of love and an endless zest for life! This playful and goofy girl is looking for an active, loving home where she can channel her high energy and show off her smarts. Acorn is highly intelligent and eager to learn, making her a great fit for someone who enjoys training or looking for an adventure buddy. She loves to play and has a knack for making everyone laugh with her silly antics. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a hike, or learning a new trick, Acorn is always up for the challenge! Acorn does well with bigger dogs and is also cat-friendly, making her a fun addition to a pet-loving household. However, due to her energy level and size, a home without young children or small dogs would be best. Acorn is potty trained and crate trained. If you’re an experienced dog owner with an active lifestyle, Acorn could be the perfect match for you. She’s ready to bring joy, energy, and companionship into her forever home!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
