Hey there! I’m Poncho! I’m an 11-week-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix, weighing in at 12 lbs of pure love and joy! I’m all about running, playing, and having a blast, but when it comes down to it, cuddling is my favorite thing to do. I’m a big fan of snuggling up and giving all the puppy kisses! I get along great with cats—there’s one in my foster home, and I totally ignore her. I’m focused on playing and spending time with my humans. I’m also working on my potty training and getting better every day! Fewer accidents, more progress! Did I mention I’m one of the sweetest pups you’ll ever meet? If you’re looking for a playful, cuddly little lovebug, I’m your guy!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
