Hi, I’m Brie. I am a seven-month-old female lab mix, and I’m very shy and unsure of myself and require a canine companion to help me with confidence. I enjoy the company of other dogs and am also good with cats, but I can be scared of new people. I would thrive in a calm home with a doggy friend to help me feel more secure. I’m crate-trained and making progress with my house training. I’ve had a tough start in life, and now I want someone to love me and give me a happy future. If you think you could be that patient person, please apply to adopt me today!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
