Darling DIDI is a sweet, gentle 8ish year old 30 pound mixed breed girl looking for a new home. She is a delightful low key girl who loves attention and pets and will let you know if you stop petting too soon! She can be a little timid around new people but warms up to kindness. Didi is housebroken, crate trained and dog friendly. She's fine with older kids but nervous around little kids. We pulled Didi from an overcrowded shelter. The people who dumped her there claimed she was a stray, but the staff suspect Didi was actually their dog -- strays aren't usually overweight and she was heartbroken when they walked away and left her behind. Didi was doing poorly in the shelter environment and was unlikely to be adopted, so we decided to take her in. Didi is a "for the love of dogs" project for us -- her care will cost us more than her adoption fee, but we were determined to give her a shot at the good life. She is sweet and friendly and will be a wonderful companion for someone. Didi is a healthy girl, her bloodwork looks good and she is scheduled for a dental cleaning with our vet, then she will be perfect. She was so sad when we picked her up from the shelter and went through a grieving period but after soaking up love in one of our wonderful foster homes, she's so much brighter and happier and ready to find a home where she will be loved forever. If you'd like to meet Didi, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Didi at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.
