“I’m Feyre and I’m definitely going to be the queen of any castle I get to call home. I am really good at going potty outside but still working on potty training. My foster mom has taken me to a few obedience classes and I’m very good on the leash and sitting for treats! I enjoy big fluffy beds that you’d think were for the big dogs, but I need a lot of space so I’ll be taking that for myself. When I’m not in my own queen sized bed I’d prefer to be snuggled right up next to my human getting all the cuddles. I am pretty small right now but my paws suggest I’ll likely be a solid medium sized gal.”
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
