Dr. Pepper was one out of a litter of 5 pups and is still a little shy around new environments. Once Dr. Pepper warms up he is a sweet, loving, and playful pup! He has a beautiful fur coat that looks different every time you see him. Dr. Pepper is looking for a home that will be patient with him while he adjusts and give him lots of love and cuddles! Most of the time you will find him curled up in a comfy spot watching birds and squirrels out of a window! Dr. Pepper has been tested with dogs, cats, and kids. He does very well besides being a little shy! Dr. Pepper has been very good in his crate and is picking up on potty training very quickly.
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
