Meet Vixi

Hi!  I am Vixi Lou Who!  Vixi, latin for “I lived”; Lou, because my foster mom says all dogs need a middle name; and Who, because we don’t know what my forever family’s last name is yet.  I’m easy-going, sweet and loving to all people (especially 10 year old kids who love to play), good with other dogs, but not sure about cats.  I adore toys, I’m fully potty trained, great in the car and the best dog you’ve probably ever seen in my crate!  Oh, and people guess that I am a pocket pit.  I am around 3 years old and 50 lbs.  I love to be a bit goofy, explore the backyard, and play with toys during the day.  But in the evenings, I just want to curl up next to you on the couch and maybe rest my head on your leg to make it easy for you to pet me.  I learn quickly and it’s pretty simple to correct any undesired behavior because even being called a “bad girl” hurts my feelings.     Apply to meet me today and my forever last name could be the same as yours.

Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
