Howdy, the name’s Wishbone just like the popular show from the 1900s. I’m an about 10 months old male weighing just 25 lbs. I’m a scruffy Jack Russel Terrier. We are intelligent, enjoy learning new tricks, and pack lots of energy into our small frames. I came to my family knowing some basics like going to my crate with ease, and I’m house trained which is quite the accomplishment I guess. I need to work on my leash training, but I don’t mind a good car ride. I especially love to be with people, other dogs (so much fun), older kids, but cats tempt me way too much. I hope someone will adopt me that will give me lots of playtime, and in return I will give lots of love!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
