Meet Gibson

Meet Gibson! He came to us after being found as a severely injured stray in Cleveland; hit by a car and left in the street to fend for himself. He was a disgusting matted mess and had a severely fractured pelvis, but after 6 weeks of TLC and crate rest, he's as good as new! He has healed well and the vet has okay’d him for full activity and adoption! We’re guessing he’s a Poodle/Shih Tzu (Dachshund??) mix, and the vet estimated him to be around 3 years old. At his last appointment, he weighed in at a whopping 13 lbs! He's fully vetted; neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and is heartworm negative.  Gibson requires a dog savvy home without small children, as he can be an anxious fellow, but he's working on confidence building and learning manners! The good news is that he's VERY eager to learn and learns quickly. He's whip smart and appreciates mental work as well as an endless game of fetch! He would be fine in a home with other pets as long as they were slowly introduced since he’s a little nervous. He has one training session under his belt and a free session will be offered to his new family, as he can be a little reactive when first meeting people.  This little guy has a huge personality and is always making us laugh. He's good in the bath, loves a car ride, and would be a great hiking partner after some training - he loves to climb and dig! Overall, Gibby is sweet, sassy, and will make the perfect addition to your home. His current foster is also willing to help with his transition, as it’s been a long journey for Gib! Gibson is freshly groomed, perfectly house trained, crate trained, and knows how to "sit!" A fenced in yard in his forever home would be ideal. His coat does require regular maintenance, so his family will have to be willing and able to keep up with his grooming requirements. A spa appointment every 6 weeks or so, along with regular brushing to prevent mats, is necessary! His adoption fee is $450.  Please click here to submit an adoption application.
