Meet Bay

Hi, I'm Bay. I am a 5 month old retriever mix and here's my story. My sister and I found ourselves in a shelter where we spent a few weeks. It was so scary there, and I was so happy when I was rescued. I have a nice foster home now and I'm learning lots of new things. I am learning to potty outside, sleep in my crate, and climb stairs. I love toys! The stuffies, the squeakies, and the chews, I think they're all so fun. I just love to play and if I have a friend to play with even better! I like cats, but mostly I would love to have a doggie friend to play with. Playing with other dogs is the best. Foster mom says I am a loveable goofball, but I'm shy at first with new people. Once I warm up though, I will be your best friend. I'm a very good loyal boy. Oh, and hansom. I mean look at my beautiful eyes! So, if you are looking for a wonderful loyal goofball like me, I'm ready to love you forever.

Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
