Friends of Michigan Animal's Rescue

FMAR is a no-kill animal shelter. Our property includes three buildings. Once we take in an animal, it has a home with us for it's lifetime if necessary. The animals at FMAR are mostly strays brought to us by the police or surrenders whose owners cannot care for them. FMAR has a small staff and a large number of volunteers that have a deep love of animals. FMAR is well-know and well-respected in our community, and we continue to strive to provide services to the people and animals in our area.

Meet Buddy

Hi there! My name is Buddy, and I’m excited to share my story with you. When I first arrived at FMAR as a stray, I was in pretty rough shape. You could see my ribs, and my swollen feet made it difficult for me to walk. But thanks to the wonderful care I’ve received here, I’ve gained the weight I desperately needed, and my feet are feeling much better! I have a bouncy spirit that just can’t be contained! I get super excited when greeting people and soak up all the attention I can get. After a few minutes, I settle down nicely and I’m ready to enjoy your company. Even though I’m a bit too big to be a lap dog- I don’t let that stop me! Snuggles on the laps of my favorite humans is just too hard to resist! I’m potty trained, but I will need regular potty breaks when I'm out of the crate. I’m quite good in my crate, too! I might whine a little at first, but I eventually settle in. I’ve spent the night in a crate and did fantastic, as long as it’s the right size for me. Most of the time, I keep myself entertained by playing with my toys and I’m great at avoiding things I shouldn’t get into when unsupervised. I love going for walks and would make a fantastic jogging partner! Running around a fenced backyard would be wonderful for me as well. When I get the zoomies, I tuck my butt in and scoot across the yard with lightening speed. It’s truly a humorous sight! So far, I only know how to sit, but I’m super food motivated and eager to impress, so I’m certain I can learn much more with the right guidance. I would do best in a home without cats or other dogs. While I may be able to play with another dog eventually, it will take some time and patience to achieve that. I would prefer a family with children 9 years of age or older, as I am still jumpy when excited.  If you’re looking for a loving companion with a resilient spirit who is ready to bring joy and energy into your life, come meet me, Buddy! I can’t wait to find my forever home!   If you would like to meet Buddy, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received. **Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
