Meet Bailey! Bailey was dumped by her owner because she was “tired of having a dog”. The owner watched her get hit by a car and took her back inside for 2 DAYS before getting her help. When she finally took her to the shelter Bailey couldn’t move and was in unimaginable pain. Bailey has healed up nicely and the only lasting effect is a wonky walk! She isn’t in pain & can even run. It’s just not graceful….. she runs like she’s drunk!! Bailey loves walks although she would prefer to ride in a wagon. She LOVES kids, treats & snuggly dog beds! She is a snuggle bug, and is a smallish, lower energy dog. She doesn’t jump, and adores meeting all kinds of new people. She would be best as an only dog in a cat free home! Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
