Meet Stellaluna

Hello everyone. My name is Stellaluna. I was named after the baby bat in the book Stellaluna because of my big ears!! Unlike the baby bat, I don’t want to be adopted by a bird family. I want to be adopted by a human family!!! My main requirements in a new home - lots of cuddles and belly rubs. I’m always rolling over to try to get a belly rub. I’ll even roll over each time I bring my tennis ball back to you when we’re playing fetch. I love running around the backyard and playing with my toys. I’m a very sweet girl but I’m a little scared with new people and places so I just need a little bit of time to feel comfortable. I’m about 3 months old and I’m crate trained and almost fully potty trained. If you’re looking for an adorable work from home buddy or the perfect pup to curl up on the couch with and watch holiday movies, I’m your girl.

Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
