Adoption Fees
$400.00Meet Richie
Due to overwhelming response, we are not accepting any more applications for Richie at this time. Richie must have a fenced yard flight risk. The adoption fee for Richie is $400. You’ve noticed that Ritchie is neither a collie nor a sheltie. He’s a Havapoo. His beginning is sad, but his story becomes happier every day that he comes closer to being with his forever family. One night a car stopped in the middle of a four-lane highway and left a blanket. A homeless woman saw the blanket and retrieved it only to find that it hid Ritchie. She approached a woman and asked if she could take him and that woman just happened to be a friend of an AHDRO volunteer. Our foster wasn’t sure what Ritchie was because his matting was so severe his sex couldn’t be determined. The matting even hid his beautiful long legs and much of his handsome face. The first stops were to the vet and groomer where he was deemed fit and was neutered. Ritchie is another heartbreaking tale of a dog knowing nothing but cruelty and neglect, only to shed those hurts as quickly as he shed his fur. He assumes everyone he meets has come to play with him. He is bursting with puppy energy and unbridled enthusiasm. As such, he will need a physically fenced-in yard and would do best with lots of play and an active lifestyle. His foster isn’t home much, but despite being crated for most of the day, Ritchie has shown, when he’s out, that he loves to play and wants to be with his person. He equally loves the foster’s really large dogs and is slowly learning their signals when they’re too tired for him. Ritchie was around cats for a short time at his first stop and disregarded them when they hid from him. Ritchie has been around children as young as seven and had no behavior issues. He signals when he needs to go out and has learned to bring a ball back and walks well on a leash. So far, Ritchie’s life has had a sad beginning; however, he’s currently well-cared for while waiting for you to give him his happily ever after.
