Hi, my name is Apollo! I am a spicy little guy who can also be quite sweet once I get to know you. I came to BCHS in very bad condition due to extreme fur matting because of a lack of grooming, and one of my legs had to be removed because of the serious injury this caused me. I am getting around great now, and I feel awesome! I have been living with a foster family while undergoing my medical treatments, and I also have been learning to trust someone enough to let them groom me. *I am currently in a foster home! Please contact the shelter if you'd like to meet me* In my foster home, I have lived with cats, and I really like them! I also have been living with other dogsâI like them a lot too!âbut I can be a bit pushy with my attention, so they all may not appreciate me. I can be feisty sometimes, but Iâm small, a little bit fragile, and tend to get underfoot, so I would do best in a home with teens to adults. I can be unsure of new people at first, but once I get to know you, I love to snuggle with you on the couch and generally be with you wherever you are. My foster parents are working with me on my house training, but I will continue to need patience and help with this in my forever home. Please note: Apollo is still learning to trust people as well as to be comfortable with grooming. Potential adopters must meet with him several times before he can go home, as this will set him and his new family up for success. He is a dog who absolutely requires regular grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. He should continue working with the groomer who has been helping him with this process for at least a few more months so that he can be safely handled for this essential and medically necessary activity. If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older.
