Meet Colonel
Colonel is a 6 year old black lab boy who came to Paws and Prayers, underweight and heartworm positive. That was in August. He had his treatment on September 1, 2022 and is healthy now with a joy in his step. He is a sweet boy, up to date on all his shots, neutered, micro-chipped and weighs about 80 pounds now. This boy is a gentle giant. He is so sweet and loving and eager for a new home! He was rescued from Kentucky during the heavy flooding. His adoption fee is $250. He is taking glucosamine chondroitin and fish oil to help mobility as a lot of our dogs do. He does not have any problems getting around, however. Colonel likes most dogs but is super laid back and sometimes just wants to chill and not be bothered by other dogs. He is okay with children and okay with cats. He is crate trained, loves riding in the car, and very good with people. His foster thinks he is the "PERFECT" dog. His foster mom says, " Colonel is a very affectionate, obedient dog. He loves to be near a person and will follow you around and give lots of kisses. However, he does not have separation anxiety. He rarely barks, and behaves while in his crate (overnight and while home alone). He rides very well in the car, laying down or sitting calmly. He is house broken and does not chew, take food off of counters, or climb onto furniture (unless he is invited). He knows the "sit" command but no others. He is very mobile. He likes to go for walks, if they are a slower pace. He likes to investigate the smells along the walk, so he would not be a great running buddy. He is calm and sweet. He loves to sit outside and enjoy the weather when it's warm (but will do his business quickly and want to come back in when it's cold), loves treats (which he takes gently and enthusiastically), and does not react aggressively towards other dogs or to the very few cats I have introduced him too. He is strong (80 pounds) and does pull sometimes while walking. He's a very good dog, very sweet natured. He likes to lounge, especially near his peop To adopt him, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org. You won't be sorry. This boy will be one of the loves or your life!!!
