Friends of Michigan Animal's Rescue

FMAR is a no-kill animal shelter. Our property includes three buildings. Once we take in an animal, it has a home with us for it's lifetime if necessary. The animals at FMAR are mostly strays brought to us by the police or surrenders whose owners cannot care for them. FMAR has a small staff and a large number of volunteers that have a deep love of animals. FMAR is well-know and well-respected in our community, and we continue to strive to provide services to the people and animals in our area.

Meet Benny

Hi there! I’m Benny, a super active and playful boy on the lookout for my forever home! Everyone at FMAR wonders what I might be—maybe a Carolina dog mix? Regardless of my breed, I’m 100% good boy! I’m very smart and food motivated, which means I pick up commands and tricks quickly. So far, I know “sit” and “down,” and we're currently working on more! My sharp focus and endless drive make me perfect for scent work or agility training. I love running and playing fetch with tennis balls in the yard, but I also cherish cozy cuddle sessions with my humans. Plus, I’m a big fan of being brushed—it’s definitely a necessity for me! I’m fantastic on walks and love to sniff and explore my surroundings; I could walk forever if you let me! Being outdoors is my favorite thing, and I enjoy playing until I’m ready for a nap in the shade. That makes me an ideal jogging or hiking partner for someone who loves the outdoors. I’m looking for an experienced owner who can match my energy level and understand my unique behavioral quirks. Sometimes I can be a bit shy around new people, so I need someone who can offer love and reassurance to help build my confidence. I take my time to trust and bond, but once I know you, I’ll be your perfect companion. I form strong bonds with my handlers here at FMAR! Because of my energy, I need a home without cats or children under 12 years old. I’ve done great walking with other dogs here, so I might enjoy having a dog brother or sister, as long as we have a slow and proper introduction. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic buddy to share outdoor adventures and cuddles with, I’m your guy! I can’t wait to meet you! If you would like to meet Benny, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received. **Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Adoption Process
To help us determine the most suitable pet for you to adopt, please read the information regarding our adoption guidelines and procedures at at https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoption-process . You will be asked to sign a contract when adopting your pet.
