Meet Whiskey! This 5-month-old male Shepherd/Coon Hound mix weighs 40 lbs. Whiskey is potty trained, leash trained, and crate trained , and happily sleeps through the night in his crate. He is a happy-go-lucky puppy who likes other dogs and kids, but finds cats confusing, because instead of playing with him they swat at his face. This sweet boy likes to sit on your lap (he doesn’t realize how big he’s going to be). He knows his name and will come when called , and also knows the commands sit, wait, and easy. He enjoys car rides and will walk with you as long as you want. If you are looking for an energetic, loving companion, Whiskey is your guy! Apply today!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
