Looking for a perfect dog?? Look no further than Jail Bird!! Jail Bird “Birdie” was picked up by the police after she was dumped with a bag of food. She spent the day hanging out in a holding cell (hence the name Jail Bird) before coming to us! Birdie is wonderful!! She is great with dogs (big & small), good with cats & loves kids. She’s around 5 years old & has a sweet, gentle demeanor. She’s loves toys & treats but mostly she loves to snuggle! Birdie is great in a crate, great in the car & is a fantastic shopping companion at the pet store (read: loves everyone she sees….. human and dog) Apply to adopt this good girl today!! You will love her as much as we do!!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
