Say hello to our very own "royalty" Philip Henri, Baron de Bastrop! This handsome young boy landed on the euthanasia list, together with his two sisters, at the shelter in Bastrop TX. Hence the name. Based on his dashing good looks, our best guess is that young Mr. Bastrop is most likely Anatolian Shepherd, or perhaps Kangal mix? He has an estimated birthday of 2/4/2024, and since he and his siblings were surrendered to the shelter by their previous family, we think that should be very close to his actual birthday. Bastrop weighed about 40 lbs when he got his rabies vaccination at 4 months old, about 70 lbs at 7 months old, and 96 lbs at 9 months old, so it's reasonable to guess that he will mature into a big boy -- probably 110+ lbs by the time he's an adult. In his first foster home, Bastrop was exposed to chicken and sheep, but only in very limited and supervised situations. Mostly, he and his siblings have been puppies, allowed to play with each other and with adult dogs. Bastrop LOVES the water and will splash in a kiddy pool or water tub or creek or pond or any other water you put in front of him. Bastrop has had all his vaccinations and neuter surgery as required by Texas law, so he is ready to find his forever home! If you would like to consider making him part of your family, please complete the online application. PLEASE NOTE: Bastrop was on a tie-out ONLY FOR THE PURPOSES OF THESE PHOTOS. It can be really tough to get photos of a puppy who wants to run and play and explore everything. The tie-out limits his movements and makes it easier to use both hands on the phone/camera. Once the photo session was done, Bastrop was returned to the puppy play yard.
