Meet Mary Jane

Mary Jane is a spayed cattle dog, heeler mix. She’s 3-4 years old. She’s grown up with kids but is territorial in and around their home towards other people and kids. Outside her own neighborhood she’s shy and needs some time to warm up to new dogs and people. She’s nervous but interested in other dogs but turns playful if given time to warm up around them. She chases cats. MJ is obedient, smart, food-motivated, and great with their family and kids. The fact that she’s become territorial in and around her home has become a problem because they live next to a park and have kids dropping by. Owners have tried a dog trainer but simply don’t have the time to devote to exposure and advanced training. Outside of their neighborhood (and her territory) MJ is much better albeit shy. She goes to the dog sitters homes and after a 15 minute warmup period does well with other dogs.
