Meet Ruby

Beautiful Ruby is still waiting patiently for her forever home!  Ruby is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian mix and weighs about 75 lbs.  Ruby absolutely loves other dogs and will sometimes want to play all day long!  She was just moved to another foster who has experience with training Anatolian’s with chickens. She did great with her former foster who had a pig she just loved and we wanted to see how she might do with chickens.  The current foster says “I honestly think Ruby would do great around chickens, based on my observations of her behavior, she's so intelligent and really does enjoy having a role guarding. She definitely treed a squirrel and has gone pretty crazy over some deer but the chickens she seems to understand she is supposed to just watch and be calm around. I would not currently trust her without secure fencing but I'm sure she could be trained to coexist with livestock completely.”  Ruby is extremely sweet and sensitive and will bond well with someone who will use positive reinforcement as she is very treat motivated.  She would benefit from freakishly tall fence and a playful sibling or two.  She will reward you with sweet kisses and lots of cuddles.  She still needs help with leash training but she is a very fast learner! Ruby is currently being fostered in Hood Sport, WA. All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Adoption applications can be found on our website: www.greatpyrsandpaws.org https://greatpyrsandpaws.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5959   Northwest adopter pays cost of transport to independent transport company.  Transport is arranged by GPPR.
