Stanly County Humane Society, Inc. is a non-profit corporation recognized by the IRS as 501(c)3. All contributions are tax deductible. Our mailing address is PO Box 1632 Albemarle, NC 28001. We are located only 1 hour from Charlotte and 1 1/2 hours from Greensboro, however, we do not have an actual shelter at this time. We feature both pure and mixed breed dogs that are usually under 20 pounds. Our dogs are fostered in a climate so that we know them well and can place them in the kind of home they need. Our goal is for both the pet and the adoptive family to be very happy with each other.

Meet Chevy

Chevy was found outside of Ablemarle high school, he had been there for about two months before he allowed anyone to pick him up.  he is incredibly healthy for his age and prefers women over men. he would need someone with enough time and patience to work through his mistrust of people and give him the warm loving home he deserves.

Adoption Process
An adoption application must be completed before meeting the pets and an adoption contract is required upon approval to adopt. Our adoption fee is usually $150 - $200. This includes all vet work, including shots, altering and heartworm test.
