Meet Cooper in CT - Affectionate & Playful!

Cooper is a handsome white and golden guy who looks like he’s smiling all the time! It’s a breeze to groom his long, soft coat, as he loves a good spa day of getting brushed, massaged, and having his nails trimmed! Grooming is really just another way of receiving rubs and love! This shy pup prefers to hang back when meeting new people, but once he’s feeling comfy, he loves to be with his humans and soaks up all the belly rubs he can get! He adores getting pets and sweet kisses between the eyes. Barking isn’t really a thing with Cooper. - He’d rather spend his time being bouncy and silly, playing with his toys, and then burying them to play with later! Cooper knows basic commands, including “sit,” “down,” and “come,” and is working on his leash walking skills. A quiet neighborhood would be ideal, as cars zooming by while out on a walk can be slightly scary for this young boy right now. Cars aren’t all bad though - going for rides are awesome! He loves playing with his canine foster siblings and needs a home with another dog to romp around with. Cats are also fun furry friends, as he currently plays with the resident indoor/outdoor kitty. Are you ready for the sweetest way to wake up in the morning?! - because when Cooper hears an alarm, he loves to help out and nudge his humans awake. Rewards are welcome, and he will happily accept apples, pears, or a spoonful of yogurt for his job well done! He’s a sweet and gentle Pyr-mix pup looking for his furever home with humans who have big-dog experience, and a fenced-in yard where he can be his fun-loving self. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our online application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply.  We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes and not all of them are posted.
