A good Samaritan emailed us begging to help some puppies who were born to a neighborhood dog who lived out in a rural area. Many of her puppies had died and her owner had abandoned her prior to her running loose. We sprang into action to help the family and in 2 days had the little pups in our possession and they were all bathed, dewormed, and vaccinated with the first round of shots. They were not used to human contact or socialized and were very scared. Mikey is very smart and learns fast. He is independent but loving. He is still afraid of loud noises but loves water and is great in the bath. He is doing well with crate training and working on leash training and house manners. He loves other dogs and is good with cats and is very playful. Mikey is a little leery of men. He is a growing puppy and is chewing everything right now so high-quality chews are a must. He does well in a car and also a puppy pen or enclosure. He is not housebroken as he is still a puppy, and he is living with several siblings. ;) Mikey was born approximately the first week of April. He has had 2 rounds of shots and dewormed. He is chipped and neutered and current on heartworm and flea meds. He will come with leash, collar, and all vet records. He is currently around 54 pounds and will probably be a big dog, around 60 lbs. He appears to be a lab and maybe chow mix, but we wouldn't know for sure without a DNA test. Mikey is very sweet and will need a patient person or family to continue his socialization, leash and house manners and show him the way of the world. He is being fostered in Longs, SC and his adoption donation is $200.00 Approved application, home visit and references required.
Adoption Process
vet and personal references, home visit, and adoption donation which is normally $200-250 for dogs and $50-$100 for cats.
