The Humane Society of McCormick County, Inc.

The Humane Society of McCormick County is a no-kill animal rescue. We pick up homeless cats and dogs in McCormick County and help them find loving homes. We offer low-cost spay and neuter to any cat or dog in the County and we a have a progressive trap - neuter or spay -and return (TNR) program and we monitor and feed several community cat colonies every day. We are 100% funded by private donations, grants and money raised through fundraising activities. All money raised goes to helping animals because we are all volunteers. The county does not have a city or county-run shelter. We are all our county has for help with homeless cats and dogs. We care for the dogs and cats that would otherwise have no other place to go.

Meet Chloe

As Chloe quickly approaches her 2nd Birthday, it has been a very slow process for her to experience a typical dog life. Coming from a mud puddle to drink from, and very little if any loving care, Chloe always wanted to join in on all the fun she witnessed, but her body trembled with fear. I am so pleased with her progress! She is super sweet, funny, happy and cute! She runs super fast in circles on a leash, but would love a fenced in yard. She trots very confidently on her walks with a very happy tail, and looks for plush green grass... then literally nose dives into it to roll around. I only wish I know what she was thinking! Fully house broke, Chloe loves a special pillow to sleep on a chair (and prefers to sleep in bed at night). I give all the credit to my 2 pups for showing Chloe how to trust, taking a treat gently and not having to run away, how to play with toys and each other, and even how to be pet and give kisses! This is a huge accomplishment for Chloe! She knows her name, and her ideal home would have a dog or 2 that would give her secure companionship and she continues to grow in the human department. She is also cat friendly. Chloe warms up to new people slowly (within days) and will bring much love and joy to her new doggie parent(s). *************************************************************************** This pet comes with an implanted 24 PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. *************************************************************************** This dog is available for adoption through the Humane Society of McCormick County is SC for an adoption fee. All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges. To adopt, contact 864-391-2349 or [email protected]. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 organization. To learn more, visit www.hsmcsc.org.

Adoption Process
Our adoption process starts with an interview. We want to know what type of cat or dog they are looking for, their lifestyle, and their expectations. Then we set up a meet and greet either at the shelter, a pet store, or at their home. Then they fill out an adoption contract. We offer and encourage potential adopters to take the dog or cat home on foster-to-adopt for a few weeks before finalizing the adoption. Our adoption fee is $65 for cats and $125 for dogs which included spay or neuter and vaccinations and for dogs, it includes a microchip. Cats can be microchipped upon request.
