Arcadia Animal Rescue

Arcadia Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization dedicated to alleviating the suffering of abused and abandoned animals. At Arcadia, animals are valued and the human-animal bond is celebrated. Our vision is a modern-day “Arcadia” or Utopia for all animals. While we know this is an ambitious goal, it is one we will tirelessly strive for. No animal should be euthanized to save space, because it is unwanted, or because of the inconvenience of care.

Meet Shaggy

Shaggy is a 3 y/o, 67 lb. Pointer/Collie mix that was saved from euthanasia at a GA shelter. His foster family adores him, but their alpha male dog in the home is not at all happy about his presence and so Shaggy needs a home where he can be fully integrated and enjoy all the love and attention he can get! Here’s what his foster family has to say about Shaggy: “He is a really good dog who knows all of his basic commands. Shaggy loves to travel inside a car, even long distance is not a problem for him, he enjoys the ride! He needs a home that preferably has a fenced backyard where he can run (he is not terrific on leash, but manageable and can become better with training). Likes to play in our backyard. He is a big boy, so he definitely needs a place to run and get exercise. Shaggy does well with all people and kids (although he can be shy with strangers at first, but easily overcome with treats!). He really likes to be by your side all the time. He never jumps on sofas, he just stays near you on the floor. He is crate trained and will let you know if he needs to go out to do his business.” He is definitely good with all small dogs (any gender) and big female dogs. We do not know how he is with large male dogs because the only one that he has been exposed to is the one in the home that doesn’t care for him. He has not been tested with cats. If you are interested in possibly making Shaggy a part of your family, please contact us, and we will put you in touch with his foster family to set up a phone call / meet and greet! Thank you for caring about a pet in need!
