Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter. We pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events.

Meet Ronald

Ronald McDonald (or Ronald, Ronnie, Cutie Mcpootie Pants) is a dog that would consider nothing better than being adopted and loved by you! He’s a fun little guy that will always keep you laughing. He’s spunky and small—the perfect combo. Ronald would do best in a home with no cats and no tiny kids. He’s really a great boy! He’s housetrained and has had basic obedience training. A yard isn’t required for adoption, but keep in mind that he’d love the opportunity to run and play to blow off some steam. He’d also be happy with daily walks! He likes to be right with his person and promises to be your best buddy for the rest of his days! To learn more about Ronald, visit ahhumanesociety.org and complete an application under “Dog Adoption Application” or send an email to [email protected]. ❤️ *Ronald is heartworm positive, but the AHHS will cover 100% of treatment! This is not a contagious disease nor is it terminal, and with treatment, he will go on to live a perfectly normal life.

Adoption Process
$50.00 for cats and kittens, dogs range from $150.00 to $275.00. We have adoption applications and contracts for potential adopters to complete. Vet references are checked and home visits on some animals are required.
