New Rattitude, Inc.

New Rattitude is a national, all-volunteer non-profit rescue/adoption agency whose mission is to rescue Rat Terriers (and mixes that are predominantly Rat Terrier) from imminent death at animal shelters, the streets, abusive/neglectful homes, or from owners who can no longer keep a dog, and to rehome the dogs into new and permanent, screened and approved adoptive homes. Each dog rescued is cared for in a safe and nurturing foster care environment where he or she receives appropriate medical care, a high quality diet, training and socialization. To achieve these ends, the organization is involved with transportation, volunteer recruiting and training, mentoring, fund-raising, and establishing and maintaining other programs deemed helpful to achieving the mission of rescuing and re-homing Rat Terriers.

Meet Viola (TN)

Like the beautiful, rich instrument she is named after, Viola can switch easily between being cheerfully lively one moment and softly mellow the next. She loves going for walks, playing fetch with a tennis ball, and choosing toys to chew, shake, fetch, and tow. But she also cherishes relaxing nap time, snuggly lap time, and lavish pat time. With people, Viola is always warm, harmonious, and affectionate, but with other dogs--particularly unfamiliar ones--she can sometimes be sassy and even assertive. Her preference, though, is to avoid conflict, and if she doesn't think the other dog is trying to steal her toys or usurp her space on someone's lap, then she is very willing to coexist congenially with the other dog. We have been told that she gets along well with cats. At 5 years old, Viola has gained the life experience to be reliably house-trained and crate trained, have lovely house manners, and understand basic obedience commands like "sit." She weighs a sturdy 18 lbs., and while her physical appearance makes it clear that she is not a full rat terrier (although it's hard to say what other breeds might be in her family tree), her loyal, affectionate, lively personality is very rattie.
