New Rattitude, Inc.

New Rattitude is a national, all-volunteer non-profit rescue/adoption agency whose mission is to rescue Rat Terriers (and mixes that are predominantly Rat Terrier) from imminent death at animal shelters, the streets, abusive/neglectful homes, or from owners who can no longer keep a dog, and to rehome the dogs into new and permanent, screened and approved adoptive homes. Each dog rescued is cared for in a safe and nurturing foster care environment where he or she receives appropriate medical care, a high quality diet, training and socialization. To achieve these ends, the organization is involved with transportation, volunteer recruiting and training, mentoring, fund-raising, and establishing and maintaining other programs deemed helpful to achieving the mission of rescuing and re-homing Rat Terriers.

Meet Tom-Tom (TN)

Tom-Tom is a sweeter-than-sweet little 6-year-old rattie mix, who came from a hoarding household where he lived with about 20 other dogs. Fortunately he seems to have been decently treated there, as he is affectionate, attentive, and fairly confident--just reasonably cautious of new situations and always wanting to be near people. While Tom-Tom's former owner(s) failed to introduce him to things like leash walking, house-training, and car riding, he has eagerly begun to learn these interesting new concepts and has made wonderful progress in just a few days. He doesn't mind handling of any kind and even seemed to think that getting a bath was more interesting than scary. This 15-lb. fellow is a terrific cuddler (his favorite thing in the world is sitting on any available lap) and is friendly with strangers. He is also friendly with other dogs, usually liking to just hang out near them but sometimes willing to engage in a little play wrestling or tug-of-war. When he has met new dogs on his walks, he wants to introduce himself to them, but if the other dogs bark at him--particularly if they are bigger--then he is likely to bark indignantly in return. Tom-Tom has a moderately low energy level and is generally calm and quiet in the house. Visit his online album at https://imageevent.com/beales/fosters/tomtom  to see lots more pictures and read more about this super affectionate, happy guy.
